Cistercian Abbey of San Quirce y Santa Julita (Valladolid)
The Cistercian Abbey of San Quirce y Santa Julita was a monastery first of the Benedictines , then the Cistercians in Valladolid in Spain from 1256 to 2016 .
history
The last location of the Monasterio de San Quirce y Santa Julita (Saints Quiricus and Julitta ) was Plaza Trinidad and the adjacent street, Calle de San Quirce . In the 17th century the architect Francisco de Praves (1585–1637) built a monastery building, in particular a private chapel commissioned by the nun María de Colón. The chancel of the church, which was destroyed by the floods of the Pisuerga in 1636 , was renovated in 1744 in baroque style. From 1970 the monastery buildings were replaced by a new building. After the convent was added to the Las Huelgas Reales monastery as a daughter in 2006, the monastery was finally dissolved in 2016.
