The Swiss monastery Frauenthal founded in 1957 (at the invitation of Bishop William O'Connor) northwest Madison (Wisconsin) under the name Valley of Our Lady ("Frauental", also: New Frauenthal or: Prairie du Sac ) the first American monastery of Cistercian Sisters of the General Observance. Today it is an independent priory and belongs to the Mehrerau congregation . Bernarda Seferovich has been the prioress since 2005.
