Zoidiogamy

As Zoidiogamie ( gr. : Zōídios - Zodiac ; Gamos - Wedding ) is called in biology , the fertilization by flagellated sperm cells . It is widespread among animals and many (especially lower) groups of plants . In the higher plants such as coniferous plants , Gnetophyta and angiosperms the unbegeißelten sperm cells by a pollen tube to the female gametes brought ( Siphonogamie ).

Zoidiogamy is not to be confused with zoogamy , which refers to pollination by animals.
