Zombi (computer game)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zombi is an action-adventure game released in 1986 and debut work by the French game developer and publisher Ubisoft (Ubi Soft Entertainment Software).

Overview

The game was significantly influenced by George A. Romero's 1978 film Dawn of the Dead (alternate title: Zombie).

The player controls four armed survivors of a zombie apocalypse through a zombie- infested shopping center. This also includes locations from the film, such as the helicopter on the roof, the gun shop, the escalator or the trucks that block the main entrance.

Zombies can take multiple hits or should be killed immediately with a headshot. If the life energy of one of the fellow campaigners is exhausted, he turns into a zombie and roams the room or area in which he died.

development

The original Amstrad CPC version was programmed by Yannick Cadin and SL Coemelck, with graphics by Patrick Wollen and background music by Philippe Marchiset.

In 1990 the game was ported for the ZX Spectrum (by Geoff Phillips, Colin Jones and Steve Chance), Commodore 64 (by Jean Noel Moyne, Laurent Poujoulat and Jean Francois Auroux), Amiga (by Alexander Yarmitsky), Atari ST and MS-DOS .

The game's characters were named after the game developers.
