Zombies Ate My Girlfriend is a metal band from Cape Town , South Africa .
history
The band was founded in 2012. It consists of the singer Gavin Marchbank, the bassist Marc Olwage, the two guitarists Adriano Rodrigues and Chris Hall and the drummer Ferdi Groenewald.
In 2012 the quintet released their debut EP Patient Zero , made a name for themselves in the South African metal scene and are now one of the top metal bands in South Africa. In February 2015 her first album Retrocide was released , which was highly regarded . In the same year, the band received the South African Metal Music Award 2015 (Best Core) and the African Metal Award for outstanding performance and quality. In addition, Zombies Ate My Girlfriend took part in the “Protest the Hero South African Tour” and played at the “Krank'd Up Music Festival 2015”. The band is currently working on their second album, which will be released in 2017.
In April 2016, Zombies Ate My Girlfriend won the Wacken Metal Battle South Africa from 39 participating bands and became the best young metal band in South Africa. At the metal battle final during Wacken Open Air 2016, the band prevailed against the international competition of 28 participating bands and won 1st place.
