Zooid

Individual animals from colonial animals are referred to as zooids . The individual zooids are either fused together, such as at different cnidarians (Cnidaria), the Catenuliden flatworms or cup worms (Ectroprocta) or they are located within a housing tube (extrazooidales skeleton Zooecium ) representing the connecting structure of the colony. The latter is found, for example, in the bryozoa (bryozoa) or the winged gills (Pterobranchia).
