Zoological-Botanical Society

The (Austrian) Zoological-Botanical Society in Austria (ÖZBG or ZOOBOT) is a non-profit association and aims to stimulate the study of scientific zoology , botany and ecology , to promote research into the local fauna and flora and to encourage contact between scientists and to convey it to an interested audience. It was founded in 1851 by Georg von Frauenfeld .

About the company's activities and events in the scientific environment, the information several times a year releases . The negotiations appear annually and are open to everyone for the publication of original works of ecological and systematic content with reference to Austria and its neighboring countries. The treatises that appear on a case-by-case basis have a monographic character for the publication of more extensive works. The Coleopterological Review is published together with the Vienna Coleopterological Association.

The library comprises around 4,000 monographs and currently around 1,500 periodicals that can be acquired through the exchange of documents and is accessible to those interested. The exchange of documents links the library and publication activities. There are currently 433 exchange institutions around the world.

The society organizes lectures by domestic and foreign researchers as well as events in the individual sections ( geobotanical study group , entomology , ornithology ), which also include excursions.
