Sugar Slap

A sugar swatter is an aid for gripping and carrying jute sacks with fine-grained contents, namely sugar . Sacks were used as standard packaging in port transhipment prior to containerization . In contrast to the normal hand hook or the grief, the sugar clap has many small thorns instead of a few large ones. This prevents a hole from forming in the jute fabric through which the contents can trickle out. Sugar claps are always used as a pair.
