Pull hammer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Zughammer , also minus hammer, pin puller or prick , is a tool, which for extracting taper pins and bolts of press fitting is used.

The tool consists of a steel impact weight as an inert mass , which is guided with a central hole on a tension rod with an end stop. At its other end, the pull rod has an internal thread which can be screwed onto the external thread of the pin or bolt to be loosened. When using the tool, the impact weight is hit several times against the stop of the pull rod, the impulse of which releases the previously firmly driven pin from its hole in a similar way to a hand hammer .

Name derivation

  • Pull hammer / mini hammer: In technology, although it has no resemblance to a hammer, it is referred to as a hammer because it describes the same work process of a hammer, but in the opposite direction
  • Pin puller: In technology it is called a pin puller because it is most often used to drive out centering pins.
  • Wanker: Colloquially, in the rather poorly educated professional environment of building fitters and mechanics, he is commonly referred to as a wanker because of the comparatively similar movement with masturbating a sexually mature man .

Tool of the same type

  • Slide hammer : A tool of the same type is used in the painting and varnishing industry as a dent and dent removal tool and is referred to there as a matching hammer. The only difference is the use of spot-welded connections on the body panel to be bulged.
