Registration of railway vehicles

The approval of railway vehicles concerns the official operating permit and network access for railway vehicles that are to be put into operation .

General

According to § 2 of the Railway Commissioning Authorization Ordinance (EIV), railway vehicles belong to the "components of the railway system", which is composed in particular of stations , railway signals , rail network , locomotives or trains . According to Section 8 EIV, every component of this system requires approval (referred to as a commissioning license in the law ) by the Federal Railway Authority (EBA) as the competent authority.

Depending on the type of the subsystem, the approval must (z. B. for railway vehicles), building permits (eg. As train stations) or operating permit required or the acceptance of railway vehicles for use on the networks of railway infrastructure company according to the national licensing laws or regulations . These laws and regulations generally describe that the requirements of security and order must be met. These requirements for vehicles are described in the recognized rules of technology and in national guidelines and laws. Evidence of these requirements must be provided during the approval process.
