Zuzana Kočová

Zuzana Kočová (born August 17, 1922 in Jičín , † June 12, 1988 in Prague ) was a Czechoslovakian artist. At the beginning she worked primarily as an actress and dramaturge at the theater. Later she also wrote dramas and prose works .

Life

She was born as Liběna Kočová, but took the first name Zuzana at the beginning of her career. From 1940 she attended the drama school at Prague Avant-garde Theater D40 . The theater was closed in 1941. After the reopening in 1945 Kočová returned and worked there until 1962 as an actress, editor and artistic director. 1964–1973 she directed the experimental stage Maringotka . 1974–1978 she worked as a dramaturge for the Czechoslovak Radio . She wrote articles for newspapers and magazines, dramatized classics such as Balzac , Stendhal , Cervantes or Jack London for theater and radio and also wrote her own dramas on contemporary topics. In 1975 she published a volume of autobiographical stories as her first prose work. Two novels, two literary travelogues and other stories followed.

Zuzana Kočová was married to Emil František Burian . Her son is the poet and songwriter Jan Burian.
