Forced labor camp at Bergener Strasse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bergener Straße forced labor camp is a relic of forced labor in Bochum and Wattenscheid , which is now a listed building. It is located at Bergener Straße 116a-i in Bergen . There are nine single-storey brick barracks with a gable roof. Established from 1941 to 1942, up to 600 male forced laborers for the United Constantine the Great , most of whom came from Poland and Galicia, were housed here . Today the facility is one of the few surviving forced labor camps in Germany, along with the Zeche Lothringen forced labor camp.
