Clamshell grab

Clamshell grab

The clamshell grab is an attachment for excavators , with which two buckets pushing against each other pick up the excavated material from above. In contrast to the backhoe bucket , no resistance is required from the remaining dredged material. In civil engineering it is used to dig trenches and deep construction pits . It is preferred when there are stiffeners and obstacles.

Clamshell buckets are equipped with exchangeable teeth so that they can continue to eat into the ground.

Dragline grab

Clamshell grabs can also be used as multi-purpose grippers for bulk goods , e.g. B. use rope excavators .

The grapple design depends on the nature of the soil, the bulk weight of the material and the required handling capacity. The filling weight corresponds approximately to the dead weight of the gripper.

The clamshell grab is also carried as an accessory for the loading crane by the fire brigade .

The diaphragm wall grab and the sorting grab are special forms .
