onion rings
Onion rings are made from onions cut into slices across the direction of growth , the concentric shells of which fall apart slightly in a ring when lightly pressed. They are used raw, steamed or fried in many ways in the kitchen, e.g. B. for marinades, roast beef and fried liver .
As a separate dish, onion rings are mainly prepared in American cuisine . Onion rings ( Fried Onion Rings ) are first in milk and flour or a batter turned, then deep-fried and with a dip as an appetizer or as a side dish , especially for steaks and grilled meats served.
Based on these baked onion rings, a snack has been offered since the 1950s - first in the USA - under names reminiscent of "Onion Rings" or "Onion Rings", which essentially consists of corn grits , vegetable oil , salt and onion powder . It is made like peanut flips with an extruder , but is thinner and shaped as a ring, so that it looks like baked onion rings.
