The Chamber of Deputies (Cámara de Diputados) of the Dominican Republic is the lower house in the country's bicameral system .

It consists of 190 MPs (178 MPs for proportional representation of the people, 5 national and 7 Dominican MPs abroad), who are elected for four years according to the majority voting system. The election will take place on the third Sunday in May, along with the presidential and mayoral elections.

The upper house is the Senate ( Senado ) consisting of 32 members .

The last election took place on May 15, 2016. In these, the ruling party Partido de la Liberación Dominicana defended by President Danilo Medina , now together with the alliance partner Partido Revolucionario Dominicano (PRD), which achieved an absolute majority in the Chamber of Deputies in 2006 (as well as in the Senate and now also in the number of mayors). The Partido Revolucionario Moderno, a spin-off from the PRD, took part in the elections for the first time and formed an electoral alliance with the Partido Reformista Social Cristiano (PRSC).
