Antennas to Hell is a best-of album of American Metal - band Slipknot . It contains pieces from the band's first four studio albums, as well as some bonus tracks.

History of origin

On May 24th 2010 Slipknot bassist Paul Gray passed away unexpectedly . The cause was found to be an overdose of fentanyl combined with morphine . Then the remaining band members wanted to take a break for at least two years. However, Slipknot returned in early 2011 and announced they would go on tour. The band was u. a. Headlining the Sonisphere Festival in Athens. On bass, ex-member Donnie Steele stepped in for Gray, who had founded the band with him. The band also announced a new album for 2012. However, there were disagreements when the work should start. Corey Taylor said that he wasn't ready to record a new album yet. Joey Jordison, on the other hand, said that one would start on the album work either with or without Taylor.

On May 29, 2012 Slipknot put a video called Antennas to Hell on the band's YouTube channel, which shows excerpts from performances in which only DJ Sid Wilson can be seen. More videos with all members including Paul Gray followed. In the video description, July 24 was given as the release date. The fact that Antennas to Hell is a best of was only confirmed on June 11th on the band's official website.

Versions

In addition to the standard edition, which contains 19 songs, a box set has also been released, which also contains a CD with a live recording of the 2009 Download Festival . The performance was released on DVD in 2010 under the name (sic) nesses and is one of the last appearances with Paul Gray. A DVD is also included with all the music videos.

Michael Edele from laut.de rated the album with three out of a possible five points. Antennas to Hell go through "with good reason as the best of, as the disc covers all four studio releases of the mask wearers relatively equally." However, the compilation has no real value as new, which is why it appends "the smell of quick money". In addition, there is no “homage” to Paul Gray , the band's bassist who died in 2010.
