Corey Todd Taylor (born December 8, 1973 in Des Moines , Iowa ) is an American rock musician , singer of the metal band Slipknot , guitarist and founding member of the hard rock band Stone Sour . He has also published four novels as a writer and writes a monthly column for the English magazine Rock Sound .
life and career
Taylor grew up in Des Moines along with later members of the band Slipknot. This is also noticeable in the later work of the band. For example, the title (515) of a song from the band's second studio album is the phone code for Central Iowa . Taylor was raised by his grandmother and didn't meet his father until he was 32 years old.
He has a son who was born in September 2002. He also has two daughters from previous relationships. Before starting his career as a singer, Taylor worked in a sex shop . He was divorced from his first wife Scarlett in 2007 and now lives in a suburb of Des Moines. On Friday, November 13th, 2009, he married his girlfriend Stephanie Luby in Las Vegas . In December 2017, Taylor announced the separation, and he was now in a relationship with Alicia Dove.
In 2008 he produced the EP Redemption together with Walls of Jericho , in which he took over the second voice in the duet Addicted .
In August 2010 it was announced that Taylor had completed his first book "The Seven Deadly Sins" ( English for "The Seven Deadly Sins" ). The book is about the so-called " seven deadly sins " laid down by the church : pride , avarice , lust , anger , gluttony , envy and cowardice . In the book Taylor describes how he feels about these sins and how he deals with them. He himself considers these sins to be a kind of human weakness that everyone has to go through at some point. He therefore considers that these sins should be condemned to be "total nonsense". His book was published in July 2011, the German translation in August 2011.
In early December 2010, Taylor released the single XM @ $ .
In 2013 he published his second novel "Something Strange Happened on the Road to Heaven" .
In a video released in October 2014, Taylor first spoke with You Rock Foundation about his teenage depression and suicide attempts. He was homeless for two years and slept under bridges in Des Moines . It had previously been known since 2006 that he wanted to throw himself from the Hyatt Hotel on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles in 2003 . He said on MTV that it was not his first suicide attempt. Taylor starred in 2014 alongside the horror film legend Robert Englund , as well as Thomas Dekker , Felisha Terrell and Fiona Dourif in the thriller Fear Clinic.
On July 7th, 2015 he published his third novel "You're Making Me Hate You" in English (English for "You make me hate you").
