Duality is a song by American Metal - band Slipknot . It was released as a pre- single from the third album Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses) .

Music video

The music video was shot under the direction of Tony Petrossian and is about 40 seconds shorter than the album version. Petrossian also performed the videos for the Slipknot songs Before I Forget , Vermillion, and Vermillion Pt. 2 direction. The production amounted to 300,000 and 500,000 dollars US . The video was filmed in a remote home in Des Moines , Iowa on March 27, 2004. The video shows the band performing the song in the building. People flock to the complex from all sides and try to get into the house. The euphoric crowd manages to enter the house by kicking the doors and smashing the windows with objects and watch the band perform the song up close.

Others

The song was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance at the 47th Grammy Awards in 2005. However, the award went to Velvet Revolver for the song Slither . Furthermore, the music video was with the Kerrang! Awards 2004 nominated in the Best Video category. This time, Slipknot were beaten by HIM , who won the Funeral of Hearts award .

The song is standard at Slipknot concerts and has so far been performed live over 200 times.

In the song, percussionist Shawn Crahan uses a baseball bat to hit a metal barrel.

The song is used in the video games Madden NFL 10 and ATV Offroad Fury 3 .
