We Are Not Your Kind ( English for: " We are not out of your way ") is the sixth studio album of American Metal - band Slipknot . It was released on August 9, 2019 via the Roadrunner Records label.

We Are Not Your Kind was produced by Slipknot in collaboration with US music producer Greg Fidelman, who also produced the previous album .5: The Gray Chapter .

Cover design

We Are Not Your Kind entered the German album charts at number 2 on August 16, 2019 and stayed in the top 100 for eleven weeks. The album reached the top of the charts in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Spain, Ireland, Belgium and Finland. In the German annual charts for 2019, the album was ranked 43rd.

On May 17, 2019, the song Unsainted was released as the first single on the album and reached number 68 in the UK charts. The second release Solway Firth was released on July 22nd, followed by the third single Birth of the Cruel on August 5th, 2019. Music videos were also shot for the three songs . Another video about Nero Forte was released on December 16, 2019 .

We Are Not Your Kind received positive reviews almost consistently from professional critics. The album achieved an average rating of 89% on metacritic , based on 14 reviews from English-language media.

Manuel Berger from laut.de gave We Are Not Your Kind four out of a possible five points. The album is "the most multifaceted work of the mask troupe from Iowa" and "even more voice-centered than its predecessors." The band is partly returning to the sound of the early albums, but with the song Spiders they are also entering "completely new territory."

Matthias Weckmann from Metal Hammer rated We Are Not Your Kind with the highest score of seven possible points. The album inspires “with a charming joy in experimenting, without even damaging the band's own culture” and “sets standards in terms of dynamics.” The song Nero Forte in particular is positively highlighted.
