Bernard Vallet (born January 18, 1954 in Vienne ) is a former French cyclist who was active on track and road .

Bernard Vallet was already extremely successful as an amateur and won numerous cycling races, such as the Circuit des monts du Livradois in 1973, the French season opening race Paris – Evreux, and in 1975 the Tour du Gévaudan Languedoc-Roussillon and the Route de France .

In 1976 the versatile Vallet turned professional . In 1978 he was French runner-up in the single pursuit on the track and in 1981 in the road race . By 1987 he started ten times in the Tour de France . At the event in 1980 he won the 15th stage. In 1982 he won the mountain classification . In 1985 he drove with the La Vie Claire team , which won the team time trial and which included Bernard Hinault and Greg Lemond . He also achieved minor successes such as winning the Tour de Limousin in 1979 , the Grand Prix de Rennes in 1980 , the Tour d'Armorique in 1981 and the Tour de l'Aude in 1982 . In 1987, in his last year as a professional, he won the classic Bordeaux – Paris .

In addition to this workload in road cycling, Bernard Vallet also started in 44 six-day races , of which he won six. In 1984 he became French championship points race . In 1987 he resigned from active cycling.

Vallet has been a cycling commentator for the French-speaking Canadian broadcaster Canal Évasion for several years .
