Postage stamp year 2013 of the Federal Republic of Germany

The Federal Republic of Germany's 2013 stamps were presented on December 22, 2011 by the responsible Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF) . The year should include 52 stamps from the areas of “State and Society”, “Art and Culture”, “Science and Technology”, “Nature and Environment”, “Sport” and “Volunteering” and provide information about people and events that people move to this day.

Between 1995 and 2010, Deutsche Post AG (DPAG) was the exclusive licensee for the official postage stamps with the national designation "Germany". This license agreement between BMF and DPAG was extended to 2012. In October 2012, the Federal Network Agency approved the postage increase for standard letters from EUR 0.55 to EUR 0.58, thus increasing the postage for the first time in 15 years . The maxi letter with a weight of up to 1000 grams cost 2.40 euros instead of 2.20 euros as of January 1. The prices for shipments abroad also rose. There was no increase for domestic postcards (0.45 euros), compact letters (0.90 euros) and large letters (1.45 euros). The category of consignments up to 20 grams has been completely abolished.

In October 2013, Swiss Post applied to the Federal Network Agency to raise the postage for standard letters from EUR 0.58 to EUR 0.60 from 2014 . This application was approved in early December. That is why a new 60 euro cents stamp was released from the flowers series of definitive stamps on December 5th. In addition, a supplementary stamp for 2 cents for the previous 58 stamps appeared.
