The Brutal Assault is a music festival for metal and hardcore , which is held annually in August in the Josefov fortress in Jaroměř (Czech Republic). It is considered one of the largest extreme metal festivals in the Czech Republic.

The Brutal Assault festival has been held since 1995. Musically it is a festival that primarily caters to fans of Extreme Metal , especially Death Metal , and Hardcore Punk, but other bands are also always booked. In the course of its multi-year history it moved several times.

The site has been in a special location since 2007: the festival has been held at the Josefov Fortress ever since . The site has a capacity for just 15,000 visitors, so the festival is usually sold out every year.
