The federal road 233 (abbreviation: B 233 ) is a federal road in North Rhine-Westphalia that leads from Werne to Iserlohn . The B 233 has a total length of about 31 km.

Detailed route

Werne

The B 233 begins north of Werne on the B 54 . It forms part of the inner city ring (Hansaring). It crosses Horster Strasse (K 8), Stockumer Strasse (L 507) and Kamener Strasse, as which it then continues in the direction of Kamen and Bergkamen.

Bergkamen

In the Bergkamen district of Rünthe , the B 233 crosses the Lippe river . South of Rünthe, it forms the border between Bergkamen-Mitte and Bergkamen-Overberge . The B 233 is the most important road in Bergkamen after the federal highways 1 and 2 .

history

Originally the B 233 ran right through the center of Unna, but was downgraded to a state road on the A 443 because of the nearby A 1 between the Kamen-Zentrum motorway junction of the A 1 and Unna-Süd on the A 443 (L 678 and L 679). In Iserlohn, the B 233 ended earlier in the city center at the B 7 . After their gradation, the section of the B 233 between Iserlohnerheide and the city center was also graded and the route to the A 46 (Seilersee) was relocated.

In 2006 the B 233 received the southern part of the former A 443, so that it is now directly connected to the A 44 .
