Playgrounds have been allowed to be reopened since May 1, 2020, and the sales area restriction for retailers ceased to apply on May 2, 2020. Since May 25, 2020, the daycare centers across the country have been open again to all children without group size restrictions.

The entry restrictions will be relaxed according to a five-step plan. Accordingly, since May 1, 2020, second home owners from other federal states have been able to re-enter the state and permanent campers can use the campsites again. The second stage stipulates that the catering trade may reopen under strict hygiene regulations. Daily offers related to tourism such as boat or beach chair rentals should also be allowed to reopen with certain conditions. In the 3rd level, overnight stays are again possible for first and second home owners from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, in the 4th level additionally for tourists from other federal states and ultimately also for international guests.

On May 4, 2020, Prime Minister Schwesig announced that she would reopen the catering trade from May 9, 2020, subject to certain conditions. A safety distance of 1.5 meters must be maintained between the individual tables, and a face mask is mandatory for waiters. Since May 15, visits by a permanent caregiver have been permitted in old people's and nursing homes for one hour a day and subject to strict adherence to hygiene regulations. Since May 18, citizens from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have been able to stay overnight in hotels and holiday apartments again, and a week later the entry ban for tourists from other federal states was lifted. By the end of May 2020, 60 percent of the tourist capacities should initially be available again.

From July 10, 2020, the contact restriction in public spaces no longer applies, the maximum limit of 10 people no longer exists. The limit has been raised to 200 people indoors and events with 1000 people are possible outdoors. In hotels, guests can again help themselves at breakfast buffets and the obligation to bring a shopping cart with them when shopping has also been abolished.

Since August 3, 2020, regular daily classes have been taking place at all schools across the country for all students without any class size restriction.

On September 4, 2020, the last restriction in tourism will be lifted, which means that day visitors can re-enter the country without staying overnight. In addition, annual and Christmas markets can be opened from October 1, 2020.
