The 1951 Cadre 47/2 World Championship was the 35th World Championship, which was held in Cadre 45/2 until 1947 and from 1948 in Cadre 47/2. The tournament took place in Buenos Aires from October 19-27, 1951 . It was the first Cadre 47/2 World Championship in Argentina and the last to be held by the Union Internationale des Fédérations des Amateurs de Billard (UIFAB).
history
After the tournament, René Gabriëls and Pedro Leopoldo Carrera each had 12: 2 match points. According to the statutes of the time, a game of play had to decide the winner.

At his second Cadre 45/2 or 47/2 World Championship, after 1947 in Saragossa, the Argentinian Pedro Leopoldo Carrera was world champion in his home country ahead of the Belgian René Gabriëls. Third-placed Clément van Hassel improved Gabriëls' series world record to 273 .
The first Cadre 47/2 World Championship in South America was a mammoth journey for the participating Europeans. From Frankfurt am Main via Paris, Lisbon, Dakar, and Rio de Janero to Buenos Aires. The officials of the Argentine Billiards Association greeted the players at night directly at the airport. The tournament was a complete success. Every day 2,000 to 3,000 spectators followed the tournament. At the first and last match of the tournament there were still 1,000 spectators on the street who couldn't find a place in the tournament hall. After the tournament, all participants were welcomed and given gifts by the Argentine General Peron and his wife Eva (Evita). Peron was a great promoter of billiards in Argentina. Carrera and Navarra received great support.
