The 1974 Cadre 47/2 World Championship was the 41st world championship, which was held in Cadre 45/2 until 1947 and from 1948 in Cadre 47/2. The tournament took place in Buenos Aires from August 5 to 10, 1974 . It was the second Cadre 47/2 World Championship in Argentina.

history

The Dutchman Hans Vultink was able to defend his title at a world championship where not everything went quite well . But it almost got tight. In the game against Osvaldo Berardi, Vultink only scored the necessary 69 points for a tie in the follow-up. Berardi then lost to his compatriot Girves. Unfortunately, it was not possible to determine why there were only seven participants, including three Argentinians. Behind Vultink, the three players of the organized association placed themselves. Manuel Girves, third in the final table, equaled the world record in the best individual average (BED) with 400.00. For the German participant, Günter Siebert , the tournament was disappointing. After he had left several world champions behind him at the European championship in Elda, Spain and was sensationally European champion, he did not find his normal form throughout the tournament in Buenos Aires and only came in fifth.

Tournament mode

It was played in the round robin system up to 400 points. In the event of a tie in the MPs, the following order is taken:

  1. MP = match points
  2. GD = general average
