The Charles Darwin University , abbreviation: CDU , is a state university in the Federal Territories Northern Territory in Australia .
The college was founded in 1989 as Northern Territory University (NTU) in Darwin , on January 1, 2004, the NTU was merged with the Centralian College in Alice Springs under the new name Charles Darwin University . It is named after the British naturalist Charles Darwin .
The main campus "Casuarina" is in the Brinkin district of the capital Darwin, other locations are in Alice Springs, Palmerston and Katherine as well as smaller branches in Tennant Creek , Yulara , Jabiru , Mataranka and Nhulunbuy .
