Chrystoforivka

Chrystoforiwka ( Ukrainian Христофорівка ; Russian Христофоровка Christoforowka ) is an urban-type settlement in the west of the Ukrainian Oblast of Dnipropetrovsk with about 1,400 inhabitants (2015).

geography

Chrystoforivka is located in the west of Kryvyi Rih Raion , not far from the border with Kirovohrad Oblast and Mykolaiv Oblast, 36 km northwest of the city center of Kryvyi Rih . The village is located on the Bokowenka river , which flows over the Bokowa (or Karachunivka reservoir ) into the Inhulez . The Bokowenka is dammed at the site of the Chrystoforiwka reservoir .

history

The settlement, founded in the 1830s, was occupied by Wehrmacht troops on August 13, 1941 and liberated by Red Army troops in March 1944 . Since April 12, 1958, Khrystoforivka has had urban-type settlement status.
