Dalibor Šamšal (born December 25, 1985 in Rijeka ) is a former ski racer who predominantly competed in the slalom and giant slalom disciplines . Born in Croatia , he started for the Hungarian association in the 2014/15 season .

biography

Šamšal drives for the Fullsport SE association. He contested his first FIS race in December 2000. From 2003 to 2005 he took part in the Junior World Championships, but could only show two results in the first year. The Croatian competed in the European Cup since March 2004. His first result in the points was an eleventh place in the indoor slalom in Landgraaf on November 6th, 2008. Three years later, on December 7th, 2011, he reached the first place with fifth place in the Trysil slalom Top 10 result in the European Cup. In the World Cup Šamšal runs since December 2004, mainly in the slalom and rarely also in giant slalom and super combined. So far, he has only rarely managed to qualify for the second round or a placement among the top 30. On January 6, 2009, he won World Cup points for the first time with 22nd place at his home slalom in Zagreb . This result is also his best to date in the World Cup.

At the World Championships in Bormio in 2005 and in Åre in 2007 , Šamšal took part in slalom and giant slalom, but was eliminated in all races in the first round. He also had no success at the Olympic Games: He could not finish the slalom in Turin in 2006 , and he was eliminated from the slalom and giant slalom at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver . The 40th place in the giant slalom of the 2009 World Championships in Val-d'Isère is his first countable result at major events. At the 2011 World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , he was eliminated again in slalom and giant slalom.

In 2014, Samsal was 18th in the slalom at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi . In the summer of the same year he switched to the Hungarian association.
