Ice Hockey World Championship 2002

The International Ice Hockey Federation organized the 66th Ice Hockey World Championships in the 2002 Olympic year . A large number of tournaments took place in the men's and junior area, the women's world championship was not held due to the Olympic Winter Games in the same year.

The 66th Men's World Championships took place at the following locations and on the following dates:

World Championship: April 26th to May 11th in Gothenburg , Jönköping and Karlstad ( Sweden )
Division I, Group A: April 14th to 20th in Eindhoven ( Netherlands )
Division I, Group B: April 14 to 20 in Dunaújváros and Székesfehérvár ( Hungary )
Division II, Group A: March 31 to April 6 in Cape Town ( South Africa )
Division II, Group B: March 25 to 31 in Novi Sad ( Yugoslavia )
Division III: 11. bis 13. April in Mexico City ( Mexico )

A total of 43 teams took part in these world championships.

The 26th U20 Junior World Championship took place this year as follows:

World Championship: December 25, 2001 to January 4, 2002 in Pardubice and Hradec Králové ( Czech Republic )
Division I: 9. bis 15. December 2001 in Kapfenberg and Zeltweg ( Austria )
Division II: December 30, 2001 to January 3, 2002 in Zagreb ( Croatia )
Division III: 5th to 9th January 2002 in Belgrade ( Yugoslavia ).

A total of 34 teams again took part in these Junior World Championships.

The 4th U18 Junior World Championship was held at the following locations:

World Cup: 11. bis 21st April in Trnava and Piestany ( Slovakia )
Division I: 23. bis 29. March in Celje and Maribor ( Slovenia )
Division II: 22. bis 29. March in Briancon ( France )
Division III: 5. bis 9. March in Elektrėnai and Kaunas ( Lithuania )
Asia Division: 10. bis 15. March in Auckland ( New Zealand )

A total of 41 teams took part in these world championships.
