Elisabeth Sickl (born January 13, 1940 in Vienna ) is a former Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and Federal Minister .

Life

Elisabeth Sickl attended a secondary school and passed the Matura in 1958. She completed her law studies at the University of Vienna in 1966 as Dr. iur. from. In 1969 she passed the teaching examination for teaching at middle and high schools.

As a result, she devoted herself to teaching at various vocational middle and higher schools. In 1990 she became director of the commercial academy , commercial school and the Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium Feldkirchen , where she taught from 1974 to 1994.

The son of the former politician is also with the FPÖ and is part of the city council of Graz . Even before his inauguration, it became known that he not only held a leading position at the Freedom Academic Association of Styria , but was also a member of the Nationalist Front .

Elisabeth Sickl became politically active as a member of the FPÖ in the Carinthian state parliament , of which she was third president from 1999 to 2000. From 1994 to 1999 she was Carinthia's regional councilor for environmental protection.

In February 2000, she followed Lore Hostasch as Federal Minister for Labor, Health and Social Affairs. Through restructuring - transferring the tasks of the Ministry of Women to the Ministry of Social Affairs - she became Federal Minister for Social Security and Generations in April of the same year . On October 24, 2000, she had to leave her post at the request of the party. Herbert Haupt became his successor .

Elisabeth Sickl retired to Albeck Castle near Sirnitz ( Carinthia ), which she had acquired in 1987, renovated and expanded into a cultural center .
