Josef Resch (born September 28, 1880 in Vienna ; † April 6, 1939 there ) was an Austrian lawyer and politician of the CS .

Life

After attending elementary school and high school, Josef Resch learned the trade of glazier . He then completed a law degree at the University of Vienna , which he obtained with the academic degree Dr. I graduated in 1907.

As an insurance expert, Resch was Undersecretary of State in the State Office for Social Welfare from 1919 to 1920. With a few interruptions, Resch was Minister of Social Affairs for a total of ten years from 1920 to 1938 . In 1933 he resigned because he did not want to support the elimination of the constitutional court by the Austro-fascist regime . He was then a professor at both the Technical University and the University of World Trade . In 1935 he was General Councilor of the Austrian National Bank .

In numerous publications he dealt with the importance of social security.

He was an honorary member of the Catholic student associations KaV Norica Vienna , KÖStV Austria Vienna and KaV Austro-Peisonia Vienna.

He is buried in the Hinterbrühl cemetery. In 1949 the Dr.-Josef-Resch-Platz in Vienna- Hernals was named after him.
