Hinrich Just Müller

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hinrich Just Müller (* 1740 in Fürstenau ; † August 13, 1811 in Wittmund ) was a German organ builder who came from the Osnabrück region, but was mainly active in East Frisia . He was baptized on February 6, 1740 in Fürstenau.

Life

He is first mentioned as an organ builder in 1760 (journeyman of Johann Hinrich Klapmeyer , from Oldenburg , building the pedal of the organ in Ganderkesee ). A year later he moved to Wittmund and completed the work of the organ builder Constabel in the village of Funnix in 1762 . At the same time, after his death, he also took over the workshop and in 1763 married the bourgeois daughter Teite Maria Rötchers. The marriage resulted in six children, with his eldest son Just Hinrich Müller (but called himself Jobst Wilhelm Henrich) also becoming an organ builder. He later moved back to Fürstenau and started his own business there. Hinrich Just Müller's last activity is documented in Wittmund in 1809, when he was doing repair work on his organ.

The following new buildings by Hinrich Just Müller have been verified and most of them have been preserved. There are also various repair and conversion work. He was active in more than 50 parishes. He is generally described as a solid practitioner and businessman who still possessed sufficient artistic potential. The organ builder Johann Friedrich Wenthin from Emden was generally considered to be his main competitor .

Italics indicate that the organ has not been preserved or only the historical case has been preserved. The size of the instruments is indicated in the fifth column by the number of manuals and the number of sounding registers in the sixth column. A capital “P” stands for an independent pedal, a lowercase “p” for an attached pedal.
