Hugo Herrnhof
Hugo Herrnhof (born September 21, 1964 in Bormio ) is a former Italian short tracker .
Hugo Herrnhof is married to the Italian short track Olympian Cristina Sciolla . Together with Maurizio Carnino , Orazio Fagone and Mirko Vuillermin, he was a member of the Italian short track relay that won gold at the 1994 Olympic Games in Lillehammer . To date, this is the only Olympic gold that has been won by the Europeans on the short track.
As early as 1988 at the Olympic Games in Calgary , when short track was still a demonstration sport , Herrnhof won silver with the Italian quartet.
Hugo Herrnhof won at world championships:
- 2 gold medals: one with the 1988 season in St. Louis and one with the 1993 team in Budapest ,
- 3 silver medals: 1987 in Montreal and 1993 in Beijing with the relay and 1992 in Nobeyama with the team,
- 1 bronze medal: 1994 in Cambridge with the team.
At the European Championships in Malmö in 1997 , he won the bronze medal with the relay.
Herrnhof is currently working for the Italian Ice Sports Association FISG Federazione Italiana Sport Ghiaccio . He is also the Speed Skating Sports Director / Event Coordinator Short Track at the International Ice Skating Union (ISU).
He is married to Cristina Sciolla , who was also part of the Italian short track team for many years.
