If You Want Blood You've Got It is the first live album by the Australian hard rock band AC / DC and the only one with Bon Scott as the singer. It is the final AC / DC album of the Bon Scott era, produced by Harry Vanda and George Young , who were also responsible for the band's first five studio albums. In 1994 the album wasre-releasedby Atco Records and in 2003 by Epic Records as part of the AC / DC Remasters series.

The album was created during the Powerage - tour, mostly on 30 April 1978 at the Apollo Theater in Glasgow , Scotland . In addition, the band came on stage in the outfit of the Scottish national football team .

The songs Dog Eat Dog and Fling Thing were played at the gig, but not taken over on the album. The live version of Dog Eat Dog came on the B-side of the Whole Lotta Rosie single in November 1978 . The film recording of the concert was never officially published in full. Only the songs Riff Raff, Rock 'n' Roll Damnation and parts of Fling Thing / Rocker appeared on the DVD Family Jewels in 2005 as well as Bad Boy Boogie (only on the Special 3-DVD Box), Let There Be Rock, Dog Eat Dog and again Rock 'n' Roll Damnation appeared in 2007 on the DVD Plug Me In .

A track called If You Want Blood (You've Got It) appeared on the following album, Highway to Hell .

At The Jack , Bon Scott asks the audience if there are still virgins in Glasgow: “Are there any virgins in Glasgow?”

The album made it to number 13 on the UK album charts in October 1978 and received a gold award. Furthermore, it placed 113 in the USA and was awarded platinum, in Germany it also achieved platinum status.

If You Want Blood You've Got It received mostly positive reviews and is one of the most popular live albums in rock history. It was z. B. In 2003 the readers of the English Classic Rock magazine voted it the second best live album of all time. In 2007 the rock magazine Rock Hard listed it at number 24 on its list of 500 rock and metal albums. This made it the fourth best-placed live album in this list. The magazine gave 9 out of 10 points, Götz Kühnemund only criticized that If You Want Blood You've Got It was not a double album, on which classics like Live Wire or Sin City would have found space.
