The Ivorian national rugby union team represents the Ivory Coast in the sport of rugby union . She qualified for the 1995 World Cup , where she lost all games in the preliminary round.

history

The Ivorian Rugby Federation was founded in March 1990 and accepted by the International Rugby Board . There were three defeats at the 1995 World Cup, especially the 0:89 against Scotland showed the gap between the Ivorians and the best teams in the world. In recent years, the Ivory Coast has slipped further down the world rankings due to its small player base and is no longer one of Africa's greatest contenders for a place in the World Cup.

The 1995 World Cup game against Tonga was overshadowed by the serious accident of Ivorian player Max Brito , who suffered injuries to his cervical spine and has been in a wheelchair ever since.
