Jason Read

Jason Read (born December 24, 1977 in Flemington , New Jersey ) is a former American rower and Olympic champion in the eighth .

Jason Read competed in 1995 with the four-man with helmsman at the Junior World Championships and achieved seventh place as the winner of the B-final. In 1997 he finished tenth with the four without a helmsman at the Nations Cup , in 1998 he received the silver medal with the eighth and in 1999 he won with the eighth.

In 2001 he won the Rowing World Cup in New Jersey with the US eight , and at the World Championships in the same year he finished fourth with the US eight. At the 2002 World Championships , he finished twelfth in the four without a helmsman. In 2003 he rowed at the World Cup in Milan together with Bryan Volpenhein in a double without a helmsman to fifth place. At the 2003 World Championships , which were held on the same track, both won the silver medal behind the Canadian large boat with the US eighth. In 2004 Jason Read, Daniel Beery , Beau Hoopman and Bryan Volpenhein won the World Cup regatta in Lucerne in a four-man team without a helmsman. At the 2004 Olympic regatta in Athens, the four rowers were among the victorious US eighth.

After a two-year break, Jason Read and Kyle Larson took eighth place in the two-man without helmsman at the 2007 World Championships . At his last World Cup participation in New Zealand in 2010 , he finished sixth with the US eighth.
