The Kia Koup is the concept study of a car model from the Korean car manufacturer Kia . The two-door sports coupe was presented in March 2008 at the New York International Auto Show . The 2 + 2-seater Koup was developed in the Californian design center of Kia Motors America in Irvine .

The body is characterized by various light edges, LED headlights and a split grille on the front as well as a rear diffuser made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic and twin tailpipes. The study also has chrome-plated 19-inch alloy wheels with carbon fiber inlays, a Brembo brake system with perforated brake discs and a spoiler lip embedded in the trunk lid. There is also a two-part panoramic glass roof, the center bar of which contains ambient lighting ( Mood Light ) for the interior. The interior of the vehicle is accessible via a keyless entry system , which also has an integrated engine start button. In the interior, a synthetic imitation suede called Ultrasuede is used for the seat covers , and the vehicle floor is lined with neoprene. The sports steering wheel has shift paddles for changing gears and buttons for the infotainment system. The latter consists of an audio system with eight loudspeakers, a Bluetooth-enabled telematics unit and a map-on-demand navigation system .

The via twin-scroll turbochargers charged (with two inlet spirals) 2.0-liter in-line gasoline engine having four cylinders and aluminum housing of 213 kW has a maximum power (290 hp) and a torque of 392 Nm between 2000 and 4000 min -1 . The engine installed in the front transfers its power to the front wheels through a sequential six- speed automatic transmission . The direct injection (GDI - Gasoline Direct Injection ) is supposed to ensure reduced consumption and pollutant emissions. The wheels are individually suspended, at the front on MacPherson struts with stabilizers and at the rear on a multi-link axle . An electronic damper control optimizes the spring damping depending on the driving situation. Furthermore, a speed-dependent servo-assisted rack and pinion steering is used.

In addition to six airbags, the safety equipment includes a tire pressure monitor, electronic suspension damping , adaptive headlights and a cruise control system.
