The Löw'sche Schloss is an 18th century palace in Staden , a district of Florstadt in the Wetterau district in Hesse .

history

The building was erected in 1746 and replaced an older manor house belonging to Messrs Löw von Steinfurth from the 17th century. The ownership in Staden goes back to an older heir share in the neighboring Staden Castle . In 1872 the castle garden was expanded into a large landscape park on behalf of the then owner Freiherr vom Stein zu Staden , which stretched south of the former town center to over the Nidda . Eduard Petzold (1815–1891) worked as a landscape gardener , who had received his training under Hermann von Pückler-Muskau . In 1885 the park became municipal property. The castle was bought by the municipality in 1904 after various inheritance lines. It initially housed a school, now located in the community center .

investment

When it was built, the castle took up the southern line of the Staden city fortifications. The upper gate was located on its east side until 1825 . On the north side of today's castle building there were farm buildings around a three-sided courtyard, which have not been preserved in their original form. The castle building is an elongated, two-storey building with a central projection . This is how the building corners by rectangular pilasters of sandstone emphasized. The castle used to have a mansard roof , but since a fire in 1945 it has had a simple hipped roof.
