Laßnitz bei Murau was an independent municipality with 1039 inhabitants until December 31, 2014 (as of October 31, 2013) in the Murau district in Styria . On January 1, 2015, it was incorporated into the municipality of Murau as part of the Styrian municipal structural reform with the previously independent municipalities of Stolzalpe and Triebendorf .

geography

The abandoned municipality of Laßnitz bei Murau is located between Murau and St. Lambrecht at an altitude of 800 m to 2000 m in the Murau district in the Austrian state of Styria . It borders in the south on the market town of Metnitz in Carinthia , further in the west on Sankt Georgen ob Murau , in the north on Murau and Stolzalpe , to the northeast it adjoins Triebendorf and in the east Sankt Blasen and Sankt Lambrecht are the neighboring communities.

Three cadastral communities were united in the community: Laßnitz-Lambrecht (includes the village of Steirisch Laßnitz and the scattered settlements Priewald, Tal and Grabenberg as well as parts of Probst), Laßnitz-Murau with Schlatting, Wimml and Auen and the KG Sankt Egidi (place Sankt Egidi and Probst).

The Lassnitzbach forms with its two source rivers, the Priewaldbach and Auenbach, the southern border against the church Metnitz in Carinthia.

history

The earliest written document is from 1181 and is "Lazinich". The name goes back to the Slavic laz (clearing, clearing).

Until the 16th century, part of the municipality belonged to the “court in the Probst and in the Laßnitz”, which belonged to the domain of the Styrian noble Liechtenstein family. Goods belonging to this family have been traceable in the area since 1181: at that time Dietmar III exchanged. seven Huben am Laßnitzbach including the associated forest against other possessions in Aichfeld near Judenburg.

The abolition of the manorial lords took place in 1848. The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1849/50.

After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community became part of the Reichsgau Steiermark, from 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

The community, which was originally simply called Laßnitz , was renamed Laßnitz bei Murau in 1951.

politics

Mayor was Franz Gassner (ÖVP) until December 31, 2014, who took office in 1980. The municipal council, which was also dissolved on December 31, 2014, was composed of 12 members of the ÖVP and 3 members of the SPÖ after the 2010 elections .

coat of arms

The municipal coat of arms was awarded with effect from March 1, 1989.
