Lequidoe ( Liquidoe, Liquedoe ) is an East Timorese administrative office ( Portuguese Posto Administrativo ) in the municipality of Aileu . The administrative seat is in Lequidoe in Suco Namolesso .

geography

Until 2014, the administrative offices were still referred to as sub-districts .

The administrative office of Lequidoe is located in the southeast of the municipality of Aileu. In the west is the administrative office of Aileu , in the north Remexio , in the east the municipality of Manatuto and in the south the municipalities of Ainaro and Manufahi . Before the 2015 territorial reform, Lequidoe had an area of ​​151.58 km². Now there are 137.37 km².

Lequidoe Subdistrict divided into seven Sucos on: Acubilitoho , Bereleu , Betulau , Fahisoi , Faturilau , Manucassa ( Manucasa , Manukasa ) and Namolesso ( Namoleso , Namleso ).

Residents

The administrative office has 6,765 inhabitants (2015), of which 3,511 are men and 3,254 women. The population density is 49.2 inhabitants / km². The average age is 17.7 years (2010, 2004: 16.0 years). The largest language group are the speakers of the national language Mambai .

history

On August 30, 1976, in Madabate (Lequidoe), the Deputy Minister for Labor and Social Affairs Guido Valadares was killed in a mine along with three other men. He was buried in Bereleu the day after next.

At the end of 1979 there was an Indonesian camp for East Timorese near Lequidoe in Suco Fahisoi , who should be relocated by the occupiers for better control.

On August 31, 1999, units of the Indonesian Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) came to four villages in what was then the Lequidoe sub-district and began firing in the air. Pro-Indonesian militiamen came up, ordered people to leave the villages and set fire to houses.

The administrator of the administrative office is appointed by the central government in Dili. In February 2014 this is Domingos Verdial . In 2015 he was replaced by Jacinto Vila Nova .

85% of households grow cassava, 85% corn, 71% coffee, 66% vegetables and 28% coconuts.
