Betulau is an East Timorese place and Suco in the administrative office of Lequidoe ( municipality of Aileu ).

The place Betulau is in the north of the Sucos, at an altitude of 1032  m on the banks of the Manufonihun .

670 inhabitants live in Betulau (2015), 360 men and 310 women. The population density is 79.2 inhabitants / km². There are 99 households in the Suco. More than 97% of the population state Mambai as their mother tongue. The rest of the population speaks Tetum Prasa .

Before the 2015 regional reform, Betulau had an area of ​​8.41 km². Now there are 8.46 km². The Suco is located in the southwest of the Lequidoe administrative office. To the east is the Suco Bereleu , north of the Suco Acubilitoho and northwest of the Suco Namolesso . In the west Betulau borders on the administrative office Aileu with its Suco Fahiria and in the south on the administrative office Maubisse with its Suco Maulau belonging to the municipality ( Ainaro ) . The northern border is formed by the Manufonihun river , which is later called Manufonibun on the eastern border . The southern border follows the Daisoli . Both rivers are part of the Northern Laclós system .

There are no major roads to connect to the outside world. For the parliamentary elections in East Timor in 2007 , for example, the ballot boxes had to be brought to the polling station in the Sucos headquarters with porters and horses and then picked up again. To the east of Betulau lies Belurema on the Manufonihun . This is where the Sucos Primary School ( Escola Primaria Lebutu ) is located.

The three Aldeias Lebutun , Naumata and Sarabere are located in the Suco .

politics

In the 2004/2005 elections , Vicente Mendonça was elected Chefe de Suco. In the 2009 elections won Abril Mendonça and was in 2016 confirmed.
