Markus Kuster (born February 22, 1994 in Kittsee ) is an Austrian football goalkeeper .
Career
society
Kuster started his career at SK Pama before moving to SC Neusiedl am See . For the 2009/10 season he came to AKA Burgenland . In addition to his time at the academy, he was also a member of the amateur squad of his home club SV Mattersburg . Without having played for the amateurs beforehand, he was in the Burgenland professional squad for the first time in March 2011 against SC Wiener Neustadt . In the same month he finally made his debut against Floridsdorfer AC for the amateurs in the Regionalliga . By the end of the 2010/11 season he came to nine missions in the third-highest division. In the 2011/12 season he came to seven missions for the amateurs. In the 2012/13 season he was used 20 times in the regional league. After the pros were relegated to the Bundesliga, he moved up to Mattersburg's professional squad for the 2013/14 season. He finally made his debut in the second division in April 2014, when he started against SCR Altach on matchday 27 of that season . By the end of the season he had ten second division appearances and 15 for the amateurs in the regional league. In the following season 2014/15 Kuster did not miss a minute of the game and was used in all 36 games over the full playing time. With Mattersburg he rose back to the Bundesliga after two second division seasons .
His Bundesliga debut followed after promotion in July 2015, when he was in the starting line-up against FC Red Bull Salzburg on matchday one of the 2015/16 season . By the end of the season he had 32 missions. Kuster was banned for the last four game days of the season after he was assaulted in a 9-0 defeat by referee Markus Hameter and received a ban of eight games, two of which were conditional. The suspension was later shortened to four games, which meant that he was eligible to play again at the beginning of the 2016/17 season. In the 2016/17 season he came to 30 missions. In the 2017/18 season he did not miss a minute for the second time after the 2014/15 season and played all 36 season games over the full distance. In the 2018/19 season he came to 27 missions, he also played a game for Mattersburg in the Europa League playoff, in which one failed at SK Rapid Vienna . In the 2019/20 season he came back to 27 missions. During the season, Tino Casali had been given preference over Markus Kuster twice after Kuster had conceded seven goals against LASK, among others .
After 198 first and second division appearances for Burgenland, he moved to Germany for the 2020/21 season for second division club Karlsruher SC , where he received a contract that ran until June 2022.
National team
Kuster made his debut against DR Congo for the Austrian U-21 team in October 2014 when he was in the starting line-up and was replaced by Andreas Leitner at half-time . By June 2016 he had six missions for the U-21s.
In March 2017, Kuster was finally appointed to the senior national team for the first time .
