North Down ( Irish An Dún Thuaidh ) was one of the 26 Northern Irish districts that existed from 1973 to 2015. The district, whose area was in the traditional County Down , had the status of a borough . North Down comprised the eastern suburbs of Belfast . Important places were the administrative center Bangor as well as Ballyholme , Groomsport and Holywood . On April 1, 2015, North Down went on in the new District Ards and North Down .
