Ole Werner (born May 4, 1988 in Preetz ) is a German football coach . He has been the head coach of Holstein Kiel since September 16, 2019 .
Career
As a player he was active in the youth area for the Kiel district club SC Fortuna Wellsee and then for Holstein Kiel and Hertha BSC , in the men's area for Holstein Kiel and TSV Kropp .
In the 2013/14 season Werner was youth coach at Holstein Kiel. For the 2014/15 season he was Christian Riecks' assistant coach for the second team that played in the fifth-class Oberliga Schleswig-Holstein . In November 2014, he became the team's head coach and finished the season in 2nd place. In the season 2015/16 followed the 3rd place. In August 2016, after Karsten Neitzel's dismissal, Werner took over the third division team as interim coach for two weeks and won the cup game against ETSV Weiche Flensburg and the league game against FSV Zwickau . He then returned to the second team, with whom he finished the 2016/17 season in 2nd place. The season 2017/18 ended Werner with the team in 3rd place. Since the champions NTSV Strand 08 and runner-up TSB Flensburg didn't want to move up to the Regionalliga Nord , the U23 took part in the promotion round and prevailed against VfL Oldenburg , Brinkumer SV and FC Teutonia 05 Ottensen . In the 2018/19 season , the team under Werner reached 10th place in the Regionalliga Nord.
On September 16, 2019, after André Schubert's dismissal, Werner took over the second division team, initially as an interim coach, which at that time was in 16th place with 5 points after the 6th matchday. After 6 points from 2 wins from 4 games, he was officially promoted to head coach and his contract, which ran until June 30, 2022, was adjusted accordingly. At the same time, Werner completed his training as a football teacher at the Hennes-Weisweiler Academy in the Hennef Sports School from May 2019 to August 2020 , which he successfully completed; since then he has had the UEFA Pro license. He finished the 2019/20 season with the Kiel team in 11th place in the secured midfield.
