coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on December 12, 1991.

Blazon : “Divided and split below; above in blue a growing golden lion with a red knocked out tongue and red reinforcement, below in front in black a golden iron crossed with a golden mallet, below behind a red six-spoke wheel on a golden background. "

Pennewitz belonged to the estate of the Counts of Schwarzburg. This is reminiscent of the colors of the coat of arms and a silver lion, alluding to the Schwarzburg family coat of arms. The miner symbol hammer and mallet stands for the copper mining operated in the place. Pennewitz is located on the northern edge of the Long Mountain on the former Nuremberg-Leipzig trade route. Another historically significant branch of business was therefore the carting trade, which is symbolized in the coat of arms by a wheel.

The coat of arms was designed by the heraldists Frank Jung and Frank Diemar .
