Puderbach is a municipality in the Neuwied district in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate . The place is the seat of the association of the same name . According to state planning, Puderbach is designated as a basic center.
geography
Puderbach lies between Neuwied and Altenkirchen on the edge of the Rhine-Westerwald nature park . The Holzbach flows through the municipality . In addition to the main town of Puderbach, the local community includes the districts of Haberscheid, Niederdreis (with the Niederdreisermühle residential area), Reichenstein and Richert (with the Strunkeich residential area).
history
The church and the parish of Puderbach were first mentioned in 1256. In the same year, court rights of the Walpoden von Reichenstein-Neuerburg on a mountain near Puderbach are attested. There they later built Reichenstein Castle . The court with the court linden was first mentioned in 1553.
From 1591 to 1806, Puderbach belonged to the Dierdorf district of the upper county of Wied . In 1816 the place came to the newly formed Prussian district Neuwied .
On June 7, 1969, the four previously independent communities Haberscheid, Niederdreis, Reichenstein and Richert were incorporated into Puderbach.

Manfred Pees (CDU) became mayor of Puderbach in June 2014. In the direct election on May 26, 2019, he was confirmed in office for a further five years with a share of 70.45% of the votes. Manfred Pees' predecessor was Kurt Niess. He held the office for 25 years.

- Reichenstein Castle ruins , built 1310–1320 by Ludwig III von Reichenstein, in 1618 the then owner, Count zu Wied, completely destroyed the castle.

The next motorway junction is Neuwied on federal motorway 3 . The closest ICE train station is in Montabaur on the high-speed route Cologne – Rhein / Main .
The distance to the station Altenkirchen (Westerwald) is approximately 12 kilometers to the station Au (Sieg) on the victory track about 23 kilometers.
Puderbach is located on the Holzbachtalbahn railway line from Siershahn to Altenkirchen, on which no passenger trains have been running in local rail transport since 1984 . Since freight traffic on the Holzbachtalbahn was resumed in 2006, the route is in good condition and can be used continuously, which is why there are special rail bus trips there every year by the Brexbachtalbahn eV association.
