history

The place was first mentioned in 1137 as "Rugelandum". The place name is derived from the field name of the same name. The basic word is mhd. Lant (usable land, field), the final word ruog (dispute). As an explanation, there is therefore a settlement near the armed forces.

In 1470 Heilsbronn Monastery acquired the slopes of a farm by swapping it with Craft von Vestenberg . During the Thirty Years War the farm was completely destroyed.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 53 properties in Rügland with the Pilsmühle (8 Köbler estates, 2 mills, 2 estates with baking rights, 2 taverns, 1 Köblersgut with forge, 1 dyer estate with dyer justice, 1 knight's house, 34 empty houses , 1 empty house with brick kiln justice , 1 drip house). The high court exercised the manor Rügland of the Lords of Crailsheim to a limited extent. If necessary, it had to be delivered to the Ansbach court box office in Brandenburg-Ansbach . The manor Rügland ruled the village and community . The manor Rügland was the landlord of all properties . In addition to these properties, there were stately (castle, brewery with servant apartment, Heilsbronner Hof, house), ecclesiastical (church, parish) and communal buildings (schoolhouse, shepherd's house).

The manor of the barons of Crailsheim, which belonged to the Franconian knight circle , was sequestered by Prussia in 1796 and part of the Principality of Ansbach acquired by Prussia in 1792. At that time there were 52 subject families. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

With the Rheinbund act 1806 the place came to Bavaria. As part of the municipal edict , the Rügland tax district was formed in 1808 , to which Ebenhof , Lindach , Obermühle , Pilsmühle , Rügland and Rosenberg belonged. The rural community of Rügland was founded in 1811 and was congruent with the tax district. It was subordinate to the Ansbach Regional Court in administration and jurisdiction and to the Ansbach Rent Office ( renamed Ansbach Tax Office in 1920 ). In the voluntary jurisdiction, the entire community from 1820 to 1848 was subordinate to the Rügland Patrimonial Court . From 1862 on, Rügland was administered by the Ansbach District Office (renamed the Ansbach District in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court of Ansbach until 1870, 1870-1879 city and district court Ansbach , since 1880 district court Ansbach . The community originally had an area of 6.330 km².

Coat of arms of Rügland
Blazon : "Under a red tin shield head in silver a black shield with a golden bar, each with an upright black stag pole ."

Yellow-black-yellow municipal flag

Justification of the coat of arms: The head of the tin shield represents the ruins of Rosenberg. The golden bar in the black field is the coat of arms of the Barons of Crailsheim , who were owned by Rügland from 1584 onwards. The two stag sticks are taken from the coat of arms of the Schenk von Schenkenstein who sat in a castle in Unternbibert.

Others

The Turkish cross from 1735 commemorates an extraordinary fate: two Turks were captured during the siege of Belgrade in 1688. One of these men, who went by the name Mustapha, had saved Hannibal von Crailsheim's life in a battle. He came to Germany and served for many years with the Lords of Crailsheim. In 1727 he was baptized in the church in Rügland. He was given the name Carl Osman, godfather was the Margrave of Ansbach, Carl Friedrich. Carl Osman, born in Constantinople in 1655 , donated two silver candlesticks to the church in Rügland in 1734. He also decreed in his will that everyone who came to his funeral should receive five cruisers. When he died in 1735 at the age of 80, the church could not contain the number of 925 mourners. The Turkish cross bears the inscription: “Here rests in God Carl Osman, was born in Constantinople in 1655, captured in front of Belgrade in 1688, baptized in Rügland in 1727, served for 47 years. He died in 1735, aged 80 years. "
