R3hab (born April 2, 1986 in Breda ; real name Fadil El Ghoul ) is a Dutch DJ and producer of Moroccan descent. He is particularly active in the field of love traps and future bass , although his style of music varies from collaboration to collaboration. The high point of its success was reflected in 2014, when R3hab reached number one on the Beatport charts with big room productions like How We Party with Vinai , Burnin ' with Calvin Harris and Karate with KSHMR .

Career

R3hab took his first steps in his career as a DJ and producer in 2008 when he released the track "Mrkrstft" with Hardwell . The single reached number 38 in the Dutch charts. From this point on, the Dutchman continued successfully: First he released another track with Hardwell, before he also attracted increasing attention in 2010 with remixes. To date, R3hab has remixed for artists such as David Guetta , Tiësto , Calvin Harris , Rihanna and Lady Gaga .

With Prutataaa , R3hab's first collaboration with the internationally known DJ and producer Afrojack appeared . The track was released on Afrojack's label " Wall Recordings ", where R3hab was initially under contract. The DJ signed another contract with the successful label " Spinnin 'Records ". In 2013 the track Revolution was released together with the Australian DJ duo Nervo and the house DJ Ummet Ozcan . The song was able to advance into the British top 40 and also entered the Belgian singles charts. On Beatport he reached number one for the first time. His solo single Samurai (Go Hard) was released via Spinnin 'in February 2014. The official music video was viewed over 15 million times in just one year. A remix by the also Dutch DJ Tiesto gained similar popularity. A short time later, the track Raise Those Hands appeared together with Bassjackers , on which he first worked with the big room drop, which was very popular at the time .

While the single Flashlight , which was created together with Deorro , achieved another placement in Belgium and its second number one placement on Beatport, Soundwave advanced to the top 100 on the Canadian Billboard charts. The song was sung by singer Trevor Guthrie , who is best known for the song This Is What It Feels Like by DJ and producer Armin van Buuren . The successor singles How We Party also brought similar success together with the DJ duo Vinai , with whom he was able to achieve number one in the Beatport Top 100 for a third time, and the label Ready for the Weekend , which appeared two weeks later , with which he himself from who replaced number one on Beatport. Two months later the track Burnin 'was released , a collaboration with the Scottish star DJ Calvin Harris , with this track, too, R3hab reached number one again on Beatport.

At the end of 2014, the single Karate was released , which R3hab recorded together with the American producer Niles Hollowell-Dhar alias KSHMR, who was already successful through productions such as Snoop Doggs Sweart or Dvbbs ' Tsunami . The track was released again by Spinnin 'and was at the top of the Beatport Top 100 within a few days. Furthermore, the two succeeded in entering the French single charts and karate is also one of his greatest successes in Germany . The accompanying music video, which shows several young women training in martial arts, already counts over a million views after just one week.

With Tiger he celebrated another success in 2015. The title was released on May 29, 2015 and was able to advance to number three on the Beatport charts. The track was recorded with DJs and producers Skytech and Fafaq. Tiger stands out because of the use of vocal cuts, which is why the lead of the piece has been compared to Martin Garrix 's songs Forbidden Voices and The Only Way Is Up . Immediately after the release, Italian producer Angemi released a video entitled "What if Tiger was produced by other musicians?", In which he retained the basis of the song but played the style of the drop in the style of selected other DJs. Under it he produced a version of the song in the style of Martin Garrix or Oliver Heldens . The video quickly gained popularity and also provided support for the original version.

In 2016, R3hab made a 180 ° turn in style. He put down his big room style and joined the growing popularity of Lovetrap music. This also resulted in crossovers with the future bass and trapicals. This was represented with songs like Sakura , Wave or Icarus . A second collaboration with Skytech followed in December 2016. The track was titled Everything and was based on R3hab's original style. But even here a so-called VIP version appeared, which is based on a Lovetrap scheme.
