Robert "Rob" Campbell (* 1984 in Melbourne ) is a professional Australian poker player . He is a two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker and was named Player of the Year in this tournament series in 2019 .

Poker career

Career

Campbell is from Melbourne . He plays on the online poker platform PokerStars under the nickname SonicJaxx . Campbell has been participating in prestigious live tournaments since 2007 and specializes in mixed poker variants .

Campbell won his first live prize money at the Crown Casino in Melbourne . He also won in early February 2013, a tournament of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in 8-Game and received 60,000 Australian dollars . In mid-April 2013, he made the money at the same spot at an event of the World Series of Poker Asia Pacific . In 2015 Campbell was successful for the first time in the main tournament series of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and won a. a. Second place at an event of the HORSE variant, endowed with almost 150,000 US dollars . At the 2016 WSOP , he reached two final tables and won just under $ 200,000 in prize money. In June 2019, he reached four final tables of the 2019 WSOP . He won tournaments in the variants Limit 2-7 Lowball Triple Draw and Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better , which earned him bonuses of around 530,000 US dollars and two bracelets . At the end of the tournament series, Daniel Negreanu was initially named Player of the Year at the WSOP 2019. A few days later, the organizers admitted a data error without which Campbell was named Player of the Year. In March 2019 he was named "Breakout Player of the Year 2019" with a Global Poker Award .
